PRESIDENTS REPORT
Ray has been off sick for a couple of weeks and our last report was he is still in bed sick. So this month there will not be a report

SECRETARIES REPORT
Well what a busy month we have had, our committee has been busy reviewing our outdated club rules please take time to read these rules as they become effective immediately. Our trip to Parkes was very successful and a good time was had by all, (see further down for results). Also many of our members went on the trip to Canberra and had a ball, some more than others I believe (mentioning no names). I would like to congratulate all the contestants both at Parkes & Canberra what a great job you did of representing our club we are very proud of each and every one of you.
To Running Bear & Little White Dove I would like to say although you did not get a place or a trophy you are one act that Parkes will never forget in fact I will be very surprised if anyone ever forgets you. Thanks for the entertainment, many people came up and told me they hadn't laughed so much in years.
While we're on the subject of laughs does anyone know the name of Jason's partner (the pierced and tattooed one) I believe a she is a local. Good one Sandy my sides are still aching.
I would like to put a special thanks out to the members of our club who go along hail, rain or shine to support our singers on these occasions. Just because you haven't made it in a Final or you haven't been invited on a certain show doesn't mean we don't still need your support. We do we are all friends and I am sure the people performing really appreciate looking down in the crowd and seeing some friendly faces. Among our most loyal supporters we have people who have never been on the stage but still come along to give their support. So try to make an effort to come along we always have a great time.

A great time was had at Parkes and I for one was surprised to learn that David (Tracey's boyfriend) came in a remote controlled Ute. What do you mean NO WAY! It's true I saw it myself moving around the caravan park without a driver (See Tracey for details).
Sunday morning dawned bright and beautiful on the caravan Park, everywhere was a hive of activity as we prepared for the days activities. Where is Ray I asked as we prepared to leave, Nobody had seen him. The Atkins cabin in which he was staying was full of hustle and bustle as they prepared to go and NO they hadn't seen him either. As we all know our president has a bad heart so we did what all loyal friends would do we PANICKED. Now when there is a rotten job to be done at Macarthur there is only one man for the job. So in went Boots as we all stood outside preparing for the worst. There he found our President complete with noise inside & outside, Alarm clock going off right beside his head FAST ASLEEP. Such was the excitement at Parkes the poor bugger was exhausted. All's well that ends well and we all had a safe and happy trip home on Monday.

CANBERRA TRIP
Unfortunatly this was a trip Boots & I had to miss due to other commitments but the news we received was all good.
I believe they got off to a bit of a shaky start after being dropped off at the wrong Southern Cross Club but once the bus and it's driver were located and they were transported to the right club everything went fine from then on. The Talent at this quest is enormous and our representatives were up with the best. Congratulations must go to Aimee, Jean, Lynda & Tracey for making it this far. All our girls did a very good job on the day but unfortunately there can only be one winner. The winners were:-
Juniors, 1st Place Brooke Schubert, 2nd Place Victoria Ballie, 3rd Place Samantha Hartley.
Seniors, 1st Place Nathan Charlton, 2nd Place Katrina Goldstraw, 3rd Place Lynda Barnes.

RELAY FOR LIFE
The Annual Relay for Life was held on Saturday the 19th Oct from 9am Sat till 9am Sun and for the 3rd year running M.C.M.C was invited along to entertain the walkers. This year saw Boots, Tracey, Jenny, Aimee and Nellie up there much to the delight of the walkers. We had a spot from 10-30am to 12 noon as we were about to pack up we were approached by the organisers to help them out as the PA that was to replace ours was not coming. Boots who is a survivor of cancer was only too pleased to do his bit. I don't think he realised that he would be there from 9am to 10pm. M.C.M.C already had a good reputation with the Cancer Council now thanks to Boots and his generosity it is written in stone. Tracey who had been battling the Flu all week did a wonderful job even though she still didn't feel 100%. A big thank you to Jenny Calleja who was thoughtful enough to turn up in case Tracey couldn't make it. For Aimee & Jenny it was their 1st time at relay for life but I don't think it will be their last. Watching these survivors of cancer and their carer's with their new lease on life is a very heart warming experience. Young Nellie was there by special invitation from Pat Farmer who was very taken with Nellie's performance last year. Unfortunately Pat did not make it in time to hear Nellie but I spoke to him in the evening and assured him Nellie had done a wonderful job. I have not as yet heard of the final Tally but when Boots and I took our weary bones home at 10pm the amount raised was at $100, 000. This was a great community effort. At 7pm on the Saturday they had a candlelit ceremony, this is where everybody lights a candle for someone they have lost to cancer and a prayer is said. Then after the 1 minute silence all the candles are placed on the grass around the track and up on the hill the word HOPE is written in lighted candles. With all the lights out this is a most moving scene and something I was very proud to be part of. The Campbelltown Hospital new Oncology Dept will open early next year and is largely funded from this event. Up until now Campbelltown residents have had to travel to Liverpool hospital for their Chemotherapy. Campbelltown Oncology Dept will also have a wig library for those patients who lose their hair and the money for this was raised at this years relay. For all those members that have not only performed at these relays but who have come along and supported it give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done.

  1. C.M.C TENNIS CLUB SHOW
Sunday 20th Oct saw poor old Boots drag his weary bones out of bed to join Tracey & Dave Batchelor at the afternoon show in the BBQ area. The warm weather saw quite a crowd gather to be entertained by this great Trio. The show was supposed to finish at 4pm but the constant calls for more, more, more saw them finishing at 5pm. A great effort guys thank you so much.
Our next show is on 10th Nov 1pm till 4pm.

FARMERS DROUGHT RELIEF FUNDRAISING CONCERT
We are all well aware of the plight of our Farmers as a result of the drought and one of our members has decided to do her bit to help them out. Jean Merchant contacted the NSW Farmers Federation and offered what help she could. This resulted in several fundraising concerts being organised by Jean. The first of these concerts will be held at the Camden Civic Centre on the 8th November 2002. The line up of artists for the night is Jean Merchant, Boots Morgan, Sandy Anderson, Deek Rivers (Elvis), Samantha Hartley and a special guest appearance by Travis Collins. Compere for the evening is Les Gagan. The cost is $10 per head, children welcome. There will be Raffles Galore and Lucky Door Prizes. So come along and help raise some money for a very worthy cause.
The 2nd show is already being organised and this will be at The Hubertus Club at Luddenham on 20th Dec 2002 (Times to be advised). This will be a Christmas show and Santa has already bought his ticket so bring the kids. For Tickets or more Information see Jean at the club or phone on (02) 98292580.

FISHERS GHOST PARADE
Once again M.C.M.C will be putting a float in the Parade. Brian Perrett will be supplying the float and generator. This year as we are having our sausage sizzle in the evening we will not be entertaining in the Park after the Parade. Anyone willing to give a hand please see Joe Kozicki.

MARDI GRA
This year's Mardi Gra will be held on Thursday 7th Nov and again we have secured the steps of the Commonwealth Bank in Queen St. If you would like to be part of this evening of entertainment please give your name to Wayne.

MORNING GLORY CAMP
Don't forget our Christmas Party & Camp weekend at the Morning Glory Christian camp from Fri 6th to Sun 8th December 2002. Kim Hannan is now taking names and payments. See Kim at the club on Tuesday nights.

JANET MORGAN

CONGRATULATIONS
A hearty congratulations to Wollondilly Country Music Club on the success of their show at the Picton show. This was their very 1st public appearance and what a great job they did. We all met up at 10am to set up and get going by 1pm and with only a couple of hours break between shows they sang their hearts out until 9pm. What a mammoth task for their first event. Everything went off without a hitch. A special thank you to Michael Woods who worked very hard all day helping Boots with the sound they made quite a team.

Our next congratulations go to Josh Merchant who recently had his sports day at school and took out three 1st places to become the fastest runner in year 2. Good one Josh.

THOUGHTS FOR THE MONTH

Today watching television often means fighting, violence and foul language - and that's just deciding who gets to hold the remote control.

Old Lie - The cheque is in the mail,
New lie - I didn't check the email.Note: no space for the text!
